Measuring chamber for atmospheric dew point
With the measuring chamber for measuring the atmospheric dew point, the pressure inside the measuring chamber is reduced to atmospheric pressure. Especially in medical applications, the dew point measurement must be carried out in the atmospheric pressure range.
Medical compressed air has been subject to the German Medicines Act since 01.08.01. Until then, the requirements for medical compressed air were specified in DIN EN 737-3.
The monograph "Aer medicinalis" in the Addendum to the European Pharmacopoeia contains - in comparison to DIN EN 737-3 - significantly changed purity parameters, whereby in particular the drastic reduction of the dew point temperature to -46°C atmospheric (this corresponds to 67 ppm V/V) leads to considerable difficulties.
The value 67 ppm V/V for water corresponds to the condensation limit at a pressure of 200 bar and a temperature of 11 ºC. This limitation of the water content to the condensation limit is necessary because the condensation of water can cause corrosion damage and also promote the multiplication of germs.
The measuring chamber can be used from 2 to 16. Process connection G ¼" female thread for connection to the process air. G ½" thread for connection of the dew point sensor. For compressed air to flow through the dew point sensor installed in the measuring chamber, approx. 2-3 l/min of process air is delivered to the environment via the built-in nozzle.
